David
Lankford- True Colors Personality Profile
In
his publication, Please Understand Me, David Keirsey classifies
personality and/or temperament into four types. According to Keirsey,
these four different types are different in fundamental ways. They want
different things. They have different motives, needs, and drives. They
analyze, conceptualize, understand, and learn differently. These
differences create natural barriers to interpersonal communication,
making understanding between people of different types difficult.
True Colors translates Keirsey’s theory into simple and
practically applied information. It brings complex ideas out of both
academia and psychotherapy and sets them in clear, real-life
applications.<more>

Tom Gubbels - The
Mother Road in Missouri: The History of Route 66
This
talk will trace the evolution of Route 66 in Missouri and its impact on
the state. Route 66 began as a simple, two-lane road joining
St.
Louis to southwest Missouri, but it soon became part of a major U.S.
highway carrying traffic across the nation. Route 66 was at
its
heyday in the 1950s, but the famous highway would soon fall into
decline as it was replaced by Interstate 44. Dr. Gubbels will

Gary & Karren Ray- LUV
Language
It’s
been 40
years since Gary Ray, 64, first met his wife, Karren, 59. He has
carried the same photo of her — now tattered and faded
— in
his wallet since 1966. But when he recently took it out to look at it,
his eyes welled with tears.
Gary Ray admitted that over the years he has taken his wife for
granted, and because of it, he nearly lost her. “I was not a
good
husband to her,” the Lakewood man said. “I loved
her, but I
didn’t do a lot to show it.” <more>

Doyle Sager - Love Busters
An
overview of the Willard F. Harley, Jr. book by the same name, "LOVE
BUSTERS" is a quick overview of those nasty habits that kill a
relationship as well as those good habits that nurture it. Selfish
demands, annoying habits, angry outbursts, independent behavior,
dishonesty and much more are all examined in light of the
biblical
call to love and serve unselfishly. This has been one of the most
popular courses in the adult curriculum at First Baptist
Church.
Practical, honest and filled with the promise that things don't have to
be as they've always been--love can be nourished and made to blossom
again!

Doyle Sager is Senior
Pastor of the First
Baptist Church of Jefferson City

Jim Wieberg - Intergenerational
Diversity
This
workshop aims at being inspirational, educational, and fun all in one
package. The presentation will draw a picture of
how "I
love you" and "I take you for life as my spouse" is translated
differently across generations. When your son says to you,
"Mom
and Dad, I'm getting married" do you think he intends the kind
of
relationship that you intended many years ago? the
presentation
will bring into sharper focus the male and female perspective to making
a marriage work across generations.
